Flannal Reconstruction

Today I stopped by the Good Will in Welsboro, PA on my way back from my checkup from my kidney stone (did I mention I had a kidney stone 2 weeks ago?)
I found a great flannel shirt for 25 cents which reminded me of the shirt shown below which I saw in Pacific Sunwear this past weekend and loved, but didn't have the $30 to cough up on something I could easily make.
So I decided to buy it and reconstruct it.

Flannel Shirt Reconstruction:
What you'll need:
  • An oversized shirt to reconstruct.
  • You favorite button-up to use as a guide.
  • fabric scissors
  • needle
  • thread
  • push pins

Step 1: Get that over-sized flannel shirt!

Step 2: Turn it inside out and cut off the sleeves along the seamline.
Step 3: Lay the over-sized shirt flat and place your favorite button up on top of it in the middle. (Using the collar and line of buttons helps to find the middle) Pin the shirts together and begin cutting around the favorite button up until you get the right silhouette for your shirt.

Step 4: Sew it up! Pretty sides to pretty sides!
Step 5: Take out your favorite shirt to use as a templet to resize the sleeves.

Step 6: Pin the sleeves to the flannel shirt and sew them together.

Done!

Rejoyce!

My favorite ukulele playing Drew Barrymore-lover, Jacob Borshard, just released a new album, A Glow in the Dark.
Yes please!
You can hear the whole album right here. Please do yourself a favor and go listen right now!
His songs are honest, charming, and heartbreaking, but they're so easy to relate to that they will warm the late January icicles off of your bones even when you're at your lowest of lows.

Woodstock

I got engaged on Christmas night.
It was a great surprise and both Austin and I are very happy and looking forward to the future.

In other news:
The town I live in is about a half hour away from Bethel, NY, which is the town that Yasgur Farms is located in (The original sight of the Woodstock Festival). Anyway, they just opened a Woodstock museum there, and I'm thinking of applying for a job after I graduate.
Pretty cool, right?
