Pretty Willi

I started sewing a dress yesterday while Jason wasn't home. Usually this spells out b-a-d n-e-w-s, for one reason...
  1. Willi.
BUT it was obviously worth it.

P.S. Who else is totally pumped to hear the full Brian Wilson/Gershwin collaboration album??
You can hear "The Like in I Love You" right now, if you sign up for the mailing list!
Yes please!!

New Art

A few months ago Jason had prepared his first art collection since he moved to Wisconsin five years ago! We (our friends, the cats, and yours truly) were so proud of him and all of his hard work!
His illustrations hung for a month, and now the items that didn't sell ( I keep trying to get him to contact more galleries in Madison for another show, but he is a bit hesitant. I don't know why!) are hanging around our house.
I think they look perfect in our living room.

I think the reason why Jason is maybe a little hesitant to prepare for another month in a gallery, is because he is ready for another project to tackle. He just finished recording a No-Wave album with our friend Wes, under the name Liquid Fossils.
You can listen to their album HERE!
Now he is currently recording a new el-tin fun album, which everyone is pretty pumped to hear!

I think that's the main reason why Jason and I are such a good match. We are ambitious, creative people with more going on in our lives than just our relationship. We both set goals outside of our relationship, and within our relationship.
Right now we're talking about writing and illustrating a children's book together.

Loved.

I loved this video.
Loved.

Cat nap

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to catch Jason taking a nap with Humphrey...so I had to document it, duh.

Musical Cookbooks, Edible flags, and more.

Sorry I haven't been around lately... I've been busy teaching Punk Rock Aerobics and electric guitar to 9-15 year old girls.

Anyway! I just wanted to share some cool things with everyone.

Loretta Lynn, Frank Sinatra, and yes, even Coolio.
(I know, right?!)

2.) Top 10 Songs about Coffee
And although Bob Dylan wrote one of the songs,
he isn't singing it.
(As it should be. Thank God.)

3.) Edible Flags
Guessing games can be fun...
especially when they involve food.

Thrifted Earrings.

What can I say, I love them.
Sure I've been gifted a few new earrings in the past five years, and I've even made a few of my own in my summer camp counselor days, but I'd say 75% of my earrings have been found in thrift stores...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lately I've been noticing that a lot of people shy away from them, or are nervous or suspicious of them. My advice to you is to give them a shot.
They all have the potential to be tasteful, kitschy, or trashy...but it's what you make of them.
Just dust off your bottle of rubbing alcohol and go to town.

These puppies are even handmade, sucka!

Willi is mean.

Since we adopted Humphrey, everyone has been asking how Willi is getting along with the new addition to the family.
I think this pretty much answers that question.

Spring Spring

Today I turn 24 years old.
I also released my first solo album today.
Lots of hard work, and lots of love.
Please feel free to join me at my home this evening to celebrate.

Happy Birthday to Tom!

This weekend we celebrated Tom's birthday. Thomas is Jason's bandmate, and sometimes I swear, a long lost Jordan brother. (Sometimes I see pictures of him, and I think it's me. There has to be something wrong with that.)
See what I mean?

These birthday festivites also marked a year of me living in Madison.
A year!
Can you believe it?

And what a great year it has been.
