Asthmatic Kitty

Greetings from the road! A few days ago Billy, Chris, and I did not have a show, so we decided to travel to Lander, Wyoming on a whim. Lander is the home of a pretty cool coffee shop called Folklore, where we walked into and ended up unexpectedly playing music in that night.

After we played a talent scout named Ed Novotny from Asthmatic Kitty Records (which is based out of Lander, and is best known for being Sufjan Stevens' label) approached both me and Billy and asked for a copy of each of our demo albums so that he could share it with the rest of the people on the label to hear, including Mr. Stevens, and get back to us.

I am so completely overwhelmed and excited and honored that someone involved with such amazing music would even take my music into consideration for possibly being on such a prominent label in the independent music industry.
Even if nothing major comes of this (which I highly highly highly doubt it will), it's still pretty cool that one of my favorite musicians will be hearing my music too.

Isn't that cool?

Roaming in Wyoming!

Today Billy, Chris, and I found ourselves driving a one-lane dirt road in the Laramie Mountains of Wyoming.
I feel most complete in the company of mountains.

I wish we got to hang out with these fine young specimens.

North Dakota

Hello from the road!
The gents and I have been in Bismarck, North Dakota for the past three days. The people here are so lovely, kind, and welcoming and have helped us so much.
We stayed with this woman Mandie for two nights and opened her up to some pretty cool opportunities within the community which she was unaware about prior to meeting us, and I feel like we were sort of an open door for her life.

I love life.
I love touring.
I love making new friends.
I love love.
and I love Bismarck.

Plus, did I mention it was a part of the Lewis and Clark expedition??
You know what that means...
Sacajawea.

Tree Sweater Tour 2009

Here's the 2009 spring tour schedule!
I hope to see lots of new things, make lots of new friends, and hopefully post on here from my cell phone (does anyone know how to set that sort of thing up?? I tired and I'm not able to figure it out.)
My goal for this tour is to yarn bomb in every town I visit.

Creative News!

This has been a crazy week for me, but it has been super productive too.
My last week at school has been my favorite.
  • Playing music with friends in the grass,
  • bonfires with my housemates and neighbors
  • lots of studying
  • lazy days at work
  • lots of sewing at home
Perfection, basically.

Anyway.
Onto what's most important...
I bought a drop spindle and some wool,
to spin my own yarn.
Yesterday I went on a field trip to Yorkshire Meadows with my friends Michelle, Gen, and Emily, where we dug through raw fleeces, ooo-ed and ahh-ed over the vibrancy of newly dyed wool, and of course, daydreamed of cuddling sheep.

I also completed the two dresses I was sewing for Meg.

Anddddd!
In music news:
"War Bride" <---- A new demo!
and
I leave for tour in two days.
(I don't think I mentioned that Alaska's not happening due to crazy Canadian border control,
however, we're touring the prairie and the Rockies.
You can check out The Bossettes myspace for more details.)
