Etsy Update!

I'm off from work for the next two weeks, this is my last week of my last summer class for the rest of my life, and my sister is visiting me from Philly! Super busy, but super fun!

I just wanted to give a quick "Hi, hello!" and tell you that I've updated my Etsy shop a bit!
(as much of an update that I have time for, really. I wish I had the time to create more goodies.)
Just thought I would let everyone know!

Ladies Rock Camp Madison

Ladies of Madison, Wisconsin...
Are you ready to rock out?
Sweet, me too.
I love it when we do things.
(Especially when these things 1. empower us and 2. make us better people. Win/Win.)

Ladies Rock Camp Madison is set to begin it's first session ever in October! It's designed just like Girls Rock Camp, except it is for women within the ages of 19-190 and it's condensed into three days. Get ready to learn an instrument, start a band, write a song, record your song, and play your first show!
  • Are you worried that you might not be able to afford it? Check out the financial aid application on the Camp 2010 page.
  • Are you worried that you will have too much fun while I'm teaching Punk Rock Aerobics? Good, because you will.

P.S., I'm playing at the High Noon Saloon on Sunday, October 17th (1PM-3PM) to benefit GRCmadison! Admission is $5, and it goes straight to the camp!
Please come out and support the next generation of music-makers!

Granny2 Rag Rug Tutorial

This isn't your granny's Rag Rug, but it does involve Granny square-like qualities!

Granny2 Rag Rug

Supplies:
  • Scrap jersey fabric. (I used old t-shirts and scrap fabric, even lonely socks!)
  • Chunky crochet hook (Anything that will handle jersey fabric well.)
Directions:
  1. Cut jersey fabric into strips (I cut them into 1" strips, but you can certainly choose what works best for you. If you find something that works better, comment and let me know!)
  2. Crochet in a circle. (I'm a knitter. I don't know too much about crocheting, I'm sorry!) I would leave some space and just connect the progress every so often. You want it lay flat.)
  3. I ended up adding some rows on opposite sides of each other to make an oval, because I was getting bored. (Again, I'm sorry, I'm a knitter.)
  4. Keep going until it's as big as you might like it to be.

I like you.

Don't you love it when you go through your fabric and find a lovely little surprise that you forgot all about/didn't even know that it existed?
Me too!

Sunday night I found this neon green shirt in a bag of what I thought was thrifted fabric...but oh, no, no! They were T-shirts!
I found this particular plain T-shirt in Jason's size and decided to make him a sweet treat...
You know, because I like him a little.

I do not think I would say no.

Jason, Tom, Wes and I went to Chicago last night to play a show on Division St.
It was nice to get out of Madison for a while, even if it messed up my sleep schedule.
Let's just say that if I was offered a teaching job there, I do not think I would say no.

Just another reason to get together.

My family always celebrated the fourth of July by eating. Oh wait, we celebrate every holiday that way. The only thing that makes each holiday different depends on what we're eating.

I'm happy that I can celebrate in the same relaxed, and fulfilling way with my Wisconsin family.

I still can't believe that I've been living here for a year already.
It seems just like yesterday that Jason had to fish gnats out of my eye after last year's fourth of July's buggy bikeride to watch fireworks on the lake!

Here's to a year with my soulmate, and here's to my new found family.

Happy Fourth of July Eve!

Happy Fourth of July Eve, everyone!
Yesterday Jason and I took a little trip up to Devil's Lake for some hiking and swimming. We both had long weekends for the first time since Thanksgiving (which is in November for my readers who are not familiar with crazy American holidays!), so we decided to celebrate.
