October House Show, Part II

This show was actually from a few weeks ago, but catching up with life after the flu really has taken a tole on my free time.

Let's talk about how sweet and talented these little boys are.
I was so happy to finally get to hang out with these lovely gents.
It was worth the wait!
1.)  Now do yourself a favor and go listen to them.  Duh.

2.)  Now look at these carrots that grew in my garden.  Duhhh.

October House Show #1, 2010

Jamie and Neil are two of my favorite people in the universe...but they live in Seattle, so I never see them (actually, this was only our second time being together.)
And to top it off, Edwin was there well!  We basically got to spend the whole weekend with these three delectable yum yums.

We ate cheese curds, made dinner, and Jamie and I pulled carrots from my garden together.  It made me wish that I could see them all time, and I was so sad when they left.  It made me yern for all of my friends and family who I never see.  Oh well!  I guess the sweet times wouldn't seem so sweet if we had them all the time!
So now we just have to wait for the next opportunity to be together again!

Summer House Shows 2010

I just realized that I have neglected to write about the house shows that have gone on here throughout the summer.  They've all been full of love, food, and music, and I honestly couldn't have asked for better turn outs/new friends.

Busy music weekend/week.

I'm sorry I haven't been updating much lately!  My mom is visiting from Pennsylvania, and we have been busy little beetles.  Jason and I also had quite the busy weekend (which you can read about at his blog.)

We were even in a documentary!
about diy house show venues and the diy touring lifestyle.

May House Show

May's house show was full of cool rockin madre's, and although the cool rockin daddies were present, the women dominated.
It was a super sweet evening!

Why I've been absent.

I just wanted to update everyone on the new things that have happened almost seemingly in the past week (which explain why I have dropped off the face of the planet.)

  • It's finals week of my first semester in Grad School, and still working fulltime. (Someone please remind me why I'm doing this to myself??)
  • I'm switching jobs in a week and a half.
  • Jason is having major car troubles.
  • Also:
  • AND, I'm throwing myself a killer 24th birthday party...Pennsylvania style.
I hope someone dresses up as Questlove.
I think I'm going to be Mr. Rodgers.

Yay J! / Guest / April House Show Preview

Firstly, Jason's music project, el-tin fun, was featured in The Isthmus this week. I am so proud of him for all of his hard work.
Click here to read the article.

Secondly, J and I have been blessed to have the company of an old friend of his from Oklahoma the past few days. It has been really lovely having another body in our home. I mean, it's not rare for us to have guests for the night since we host shows in our home for people far from home, but living with another person few a few days, for just a taste is divine.

And next week my sister and her boyfriend will be joining us. Hopefully we won't kill each other or light the house on fire.

If we did, then we couldn't have this show.....

I'm creatively alive....I promise.

Lately I've been feeling like I have been updating about my life more than my crafting life, mainly because my day-to-daylife has had a sudden surge of change within the past few weeks.
But!
I'm still trying to get my creativity flowing, I swear.

A little of this.

A little of that.

Just letting you know I'm not dead.

November House Show, Part II

The last house show of November was so much fun! I wish everyone could have been there to listen to the music and experience the fun!
We made some new friends, played with kids, ate a lot, our brains were blown by great musical performances, AND no one was mean to Willi. Hooray!

Eli August played, and he did a great job!
I especially loved his ukulele songs, however, I am biased when it comes to uking til you're puking. In fact, the topic of puking even came up during his set! (Not in a gross way, of course. It was fitting and humorous.)

Plum Union graced our presence once again. It feels so nice to have a circle of friends all over the country, however, it feels comforting to know that there are some right by you that you can always visit with and smell the garlic and tea tree oil mixture on them when you hug them! Not only that, but to hear their lovely singing voices almost whenever you please!
Edwin of Plum Union just had a birthday on Wednesday, so I baked a cake for him from scratch, and I decorated it with some runny homemade frosting.Cat also played some solo songs, which were a real treat! It was the first time I've seen her perform live by herself.

Cowboy Motif played some pretty upbeat, acoustic pop songs with an Animal Collective backbone, which I am always a sucker for.
They were very young and very sweet and kind.

Let's do this again, and again, and again, please!

November's House Shows, Part I

I didn't get to take pictures at October's house shows, so I haven't posted anything about them, but they were very lovely.
Last night I made sure not to forget about taking pictures for November.

Flotation Walls

Epic music from Columbus, OH in my living room.

Adam Balbo
Singer songwriter with very quirky/cute/clever lyrics, from San Francisco.

Other News:
1.) You might notice that I've changed my blog around a bit.
Let me know what you think.
I haven't decided what I think about it yet.
(I'm worried it looks soccer-mom-blogish)

2.) Willi was spayed, and she had to wear a soft "sunflower" (as Jason and I liked to call it) so she would not harm her stitches. She has not calmed down at all since her operation, but is more moody, embarrassed, and of course, naughty.
Here is an example of such naughtiness, while she tries to wriggle her way out of her "sunflower".
